Illinois Semiconductors Workforce Network (ISWN)

Overview 

Dr. Moussa Ayyash is a co-PI on a , awarded by the (NSTC)'s Workforce Partner Alliance Program to the led by the .  The goal of the project is to address the shortage of skilled professionals in the U.S. semiconductor industry.  ISWN is forming an ecosystem of workforce development partners to create the next generation workforce to meet the critical needs of semiconductor industry.

ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø Semiconductors Fellowship 2025/2026

Apply now for the 2025/2026 ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø Semiconductor Fellowship. ISWN is a program focused on growing the talent pipeline of engineers in cleanroom semiconductors manufacturing and operations at the undergraduate level, who are trained in industry-standard hardware and software tools. The ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø Semiconductors Fellowship is administered by the Center for Information and Security Education and Research (CINSER) and supports the goals of the ISWN program.

Fellowship Highlights

  • $5000 Stipend ($1500 Fall - $1500 Spring - $2000 Summer)
  • Open to undergraduate students majoring in Computing Sciences and Technology, Engineering Physics, Physics, or related fields
  • Must be registered for the ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø Semiconductor Technology and Manufacturing Certificate
  • Must complete the following classes:
    • PHYS 2700 (Fall 2025)
    • CPTR 3470 or PHYS 2710 (Spring 2026)
    • CPTR 4472 (Summer 2026)
  • Must attend approved ISWN workshops
  • Fellowship recipients will receive a certificate of completion from CINSER @ ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø
